The editing toolset has been taken even further with the Clone tool. And while some found the wait frustrating, the tool is a big success. This is such an important tool for many editors. The Dodge and Burn tool is another updated feature. And after the latest update, the histogram is now visible in the Tools and Edits section in the Edit module. But we’re happy to see a histogram in the latest version. It was a bit of a surprise that this was left out of the original release. You also get a histogram for more detailed editing. And many were disappointed not to see it in the original public version. Masking was a big promise during the buildup to Luminar NEO’s release. ![]() The Mask AI tool was the first headline tool in the early updates. The team has been listening to user feedback and updating the program continuously. But Skylum doesn’t take its users for granted. And from the start, photographers have been loving the program. Luminar NEO has been with us for a while now. This broadens NEO’s appeal, taking it in an Adobe Photoshop direction. We’re happy to see Skylum take NEO in a different direction, adding Layer and Mask AI tools to the program. Luminar NEO offers the same AI tools, but the new high-speed core engine improves speed and performance. But like many others, we encountered performance issues. We were impressed with the AI tools in Luminar AI. They’re adding new tools to make Luminar NEO a distinct improvement from their previous software products. But with each update, a new piece of the puzzle is added. And it hasn’t yet reached its final form. Luminar NEO is a new software from Skylum. There are features to improve portraits, a Relight AI, and dozens of presets for easy improvements. Power line and Sky Replacement AI tools have turned tedious and time-consuming tasks into one-click operations. Skylum is using AI to streamline the photo editing process. But NEO sets out to fix some of the issues users faced with Luminar AI. Skylum says that NEO isn’t replacing their previous release-Luminar AI. Nevertheless, I consider my own complaints in regard to Luminar Neo’s performance to have been resolved. For instance, your idea of fast-enough may differ from mine, and we’re probably running Luminar Neo on different hardware, using differently sized camera files. This is to say, I no longer consider Luminar Neo slow at all. And when I finish my edit, I can preserve the entire sum of my adjustments as a Preset or use batch editing to replicate my adjustments across multiple images. Regarding adjustments, it pleases me greatly that I can stack my favorite tools toward the top of the list. And if you do get stuck, Luminar Neo’s adjustments now feature tooltips offering a light description plus a link to more comprehensive instructions.
